UPDATED: 2014 Natural Hair Goals
Still a work in progress, The first half of the year started off with such promise but after July, I felt as if I was back to square 1 as if I have never had curly hair before. The problem isn't moisturizing but keeping it moisturized. Keep a lookout for any breakthroughs
2. Reduce my hair products:
Well, I did do a few product purges last year. I donated my products to newly naturals, friends, or local natural hair events. I am planning to make a video on my current hair product stash because it has significantly reduced since I joined the Peace Corps. So I would say mission accomplished.
3. Retain Length:
I may have fallen short in this respect. Even though, I have seen growth in my hair. I know I can do a better job of reducing breakage. I'm still mastering protective styles but once I do you will see it and my hair will thank me for it.
4. Detangle with more Tender, Love & Care:
"There have been too many times when I feel my hair snag or hear it snap and its because I'm rushing through the detangling process." Yea that did not happen, detangling is becoming more and more of a struggle. I've had more rushed days than TLC days. I guess I'll try again next year.
5. Post more regarding my hair while traveling:
Here are some of my previous hair updates when it comes to traveling:
Traveling with Natural Hair
Chicago in Less Than 24 Hours
Simba Goes International

6. Move away from "HIH" Syndrome:
I have stepped away from the "hand in hair" syndrome. I sometimes have a relapse when a flat twist out turns out fabulous but the reduction in touching my hair has shown improvement in frizz and dryness.
7. Accept my shrinkage:
Check! Instead of being disappointed in wash and go's, I just stay away from them because I know what the result will be. With my shrinkage, I have learned different tips to stretch my hair.
8. Better understand MY hair:
Simba (My hair) and myself have come a long way. I have learned more about my texture and thickness, however we are still learning how I can adapt Instagram inspired styles to my liking.
