Bachelors of  Business Administration

What was your motivation for studying abroad?

I’ve always wanted an international experience after traveling away from home to DC my first year in college. Being the first in my family to leave home gave me a sense of confidence that I could go anywhere and conquer anything.

What is your favorite memory from study abroad?
The many friends that I made and the memories I made with them, such as traveling to other countries together or trying new things. Holland was such a beautiful place that there was always something new to see.

What was the toughest thing about studying abroad?
Being the oldest sibling, I was homesick for the first few weeks of my study abroad experience. The hardest thing was for me was missing my younger sister’s high school graduation, which meant a lot to me.

How has your experience abroad helped your personal development?
My experience abroad has allowed me to be more open and receptive of people of different cultures. I’m more flexible with life and opportunities.

How has study abroad impacted your global awareness?
Since studying abroad, I find myself more interested in political news in other countries where my friends are from, such as Russia and Japan. Learning about the history of Holland has also allowed me to understand America’s history better and see the impact that one country has on another.

How has study abroad impacted your education and/or career?

Now that I’ve studied abroad, I have a broader perspective in the classroom and work space. I’m also interested in working abroad in new countries since I’ve been to Holland.

What advice would you give to someone thinking of studying abroad?
Do it! Don’t let the fear of what may or may not happen stop you from an amazing opportunity. Yes you are going to be afraid, and homesick, and even sad at times, but the friends you meet and memories you make are worth it. They are going to be memories to last a lifetime.
