Trial and Error: Shea Moisture Gel Soufflé

I made today a Shea Moisture day. I picked up some new products from their Coconut and Hibiscus line and decided to use all their products in my hair wash day.

The only new additions to my Shea Moisture collection are the two products on the right: Curl & Shine Shampoo and Curling Gel Soufflé. I purchased the shampoo because I was searching for another sulfate free shampoo and I borrowed the Gel Soufflé from a friend because I wanted to do finger coils in my hair and I

thought

the Shea Moisture Gel would work better with the other SheaMoisture products than the Eco-Styler gel I had been using.....

I was WRONG!

I refuse to show a picture of how my finger coils turned out because I disliked it so much! The gel had hardly any holding power and it left my coils puffy instead of coiled and clumped. I already knew I wasn't going to like the results but I kept pressing and kept hope alive.

When my finger coils dried. There was just hardened chunks of hair on my head and when I went to touch it. My hair was greasy and I had to wipe my hands of the gel substance left on my head.

The rest of the Shea Moisture products worked fine. I even liked the Curl & Shine Shampoo more than the Restorative Shampoo I had been using. The shampoo gave a better smell and more moisture to my hair than the other shampoo. But I am washing this stuff out and never using the Curling Gel Soufflé again. The eco-styler gel works just fine so I will stick to what I know. But I am still in search of that PERFECT birthday hair style. Suggestions?
